- In the reading Solnit talks about how being a woman affect the time and place where you should walk and this is because men feel entitled to control women’s freedom. “The young men strolling on the streets think only that a woman of good reputation does not allow herself to be seen in the evening”. She mentions this quote because for some many years men have forced their wives to hide and stay private but yet they go out and pursue other women out in the streets. Men have created this stereotype for women and think it’s okay to sexualize women who are out walking freely despite being married. Walking at night has become impossible for women, there is always a fear that a guy will try to harm them and sexualize them just because they are walking out on the street. Considering the fact that this is 2020 and its been many years since women started fighting for their right, it is quite disappointing that women still don’t get the respect they should.(174)
